Beef chilly fry / beef ularthiyathu is a traditional and popular Kerala side dish that every Malayalies likes. The beef which is  roasted with different spice mix, coconut strips and hurbs makes the beef chilly fry the most delicious and mouthwstering.
 
The beef is the savored among Malayalies  in a fry or roast preparation. Like every Malayalies, this is one of my favourite Kerala delicacies. I prepare this deliciously for my family and guests.



BEEF CHILLY FRY/ BEEF ULARTHIYATHU

The beef can be prepared in many different ways. The preparations are on the basis of one's own style/ taste. Some likes it semi fried, some likes fully roasted, some likes dry fry etc. This type of preparation is called as beef fry/ beef roast or beef ularthiyathu. Different places have different  beef recipies  and they called as different names. 

We loves the vibrant taste of succulent beef pieces cooked with roasted onion, tomato ginger garlic paste,Pepper and flavourful spices. An authentic beef fry / beef ularthiyathu is cooked in iron kadai and seasoned with  coconut oil, cocunut strips, and a lot of curry leaves brings out a unique flavour  and aroma. The best combination that every Malayalies loves a plate of hot layered parotta with a side of beef fry/ beef ularthiyathu. Beef dishes with parotta are very popular in every restaurants, street food, small tea shops and even in houses also.




BEEF CHILLY FRY/ BEEF ULARTHIYATHU


Here, the beef is roasted in a spicy masala with Coconut strips and curry leaves makes it as a best Aromatic and delicious beef fry/ beef ularthiyathu that everyone loves. Let's follow my simple recipes to make this Delicious side dish and enjoy with your family.

INGREDIENTS

Beef  - 1/2 kg

Onion - 2 medium size

Tomato - 1 small

Coconut strips - 6 - 7 strips

Dried Red chilly - 2

Ginger paste - 1 tsp

Garlic paste - 1 tsp

Green chilly paste - 1 tsp

Coriander powder - 1 tsp

Kashmiri chilly powder -  2 tbsp

Pepper powder - 1 tbsp

Biryani Masala powder - 1/2 tsp

Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

 Salt

Curry leaves 

Coriander leaves

Coconut oil - 5 tbsp

FOR COOKING BEEF

Water - 1 cup

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp

Biryani Masala powder - 1/4 tsp

Salt


INSTRUCTIONS

*  It's better to use coconut oil for making traditional Kerala side dish like beef fry.

* Use Iron kadai for making authentic dishes like beef fry.

* You can use more curry leaves to get Traditional flavour and aroma.

* You can boil / cook beef  in a pressure cooker before you start roasting masalas.

* Don't burn the coconut strips, you can only just saute until the roast smell of coconut strips comes.


PREPARATION

   ðŸ”º Wash and drain the beef. Cut them into small cubes.

🔺 Take a pressure cooker, transfer the beef cubes, add Turmeric powder, Pepper powder, biryani Masala powder, water and salt. Close the pressure cooker and wait for 3 whistles cames. Then switch off the flame and keep aside.

🔺 Take a iron kadai, heat enough coconut oil, add coconut strips, curry leaves, dried red chilly. Saute well for 3 to 5 minutes.

🔺 Once the curry leaves turns Crispy, then add sliced onion and saute well until the onion gets light golden colour.

🔺  Then add ginger,garlic and green chilly paste and saute well for 2 minutes.

🔺 Add chopped tomatoes and saute well for 2 minutes. Then close the Kadai with lid. Cook it for 10 minutes. Stir well every 2 minutes.

🔺  Once the water from tomatoes comes, you can remove the lid and add spices such as Turmeric powder, Coriander powder, Pepper powder, red chilly powder and biryani Masala powder. Then mix well and saute well for 2 minutes in a low flame.

🔺 Transfer the cooked beef into this masala mix. Mix well. Then add 3/4 cup water from beef stock ( beef cooked water). Cook for 5 minutes until the beef and masala turns to dry.

🔺 Once the masala and beef mixes are well soaked and the water from its began to dry, you can adjust the flame into medium .Then pour some coconut oil         ( optional)   and saute and cook well until the beef turns to dry and fried. Finally you can add chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and can serve hotly with any meals.

The tasty beef chilly fry/ beef ularthiyathu is ready to serve. You can serve it as a side dish for any meals. The most popular combination is beef fry / beef ularthiyathu with hot layered parotta. But you can also  serve it with chapathi, ghee rice, biryani etc. I am sure that you can make  this beef fry  best and can make your loved ones happy and enjoying.
