Green Papaya yogurt dip is a tasty and delicious yogurt and coconut based gravy dish Made with cooked and mashed raw/green papaya. Green Papaya yogurt dip is very simple and easy recipes. You can make this recipe quickly with in 15 or 20 minutes. It is one of the tasty dish that you can served along with boiled rice, ghee rice or biryani.
This recipe is similar to BEETROOT PACHADI ,the external outlook of beetroot pachadi is similar to this papaya yogurt dip, only difference in colour and some ingredients. The taste of Beetroot pachadi and papaya yogurt dip is almost same. It's because both give a special taste of sour. Only it's flavour is different.
This special dip is made by cooked and mashed raw/green papaya. The cooked green/raw Papaya is mashed and then mixed with grinded coconut mix. These are then seasoned with mustard seeds and curry leaves. At last yogurt is added to make this dip tasty and sour.
The light green coloured papaya yogurt dip is very attractive along with rice. It tastes little sour and little spicy. It gives a unique flavour than other vegetables. So we can't believe - is this a dip made with green/raw Papaya or not?. I followed this recipe from my mother. My mother used fresh green papaya for making this tasty and delicious dip.The dish also gives a cool smoothing effect in your stomach.
Let's follow my simple and easy method to make tasty green/raw Papaya yogurt dip. Enjoy its unique flavour and tangy taste with a bit of spiciness.

INGREDIENTS
For boiling papaya
Green/raw Papaya - 1 small
Water - 1/2 cup
Salt - 1 tsp
For grinding coconut
Coconut - 1 cup
Green chilly - 4 or 5
Garlic - 4 cloves
Water - 3 tbsp
For seasoning
Coconut oil - 4 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves
Final mixing
Yogurt - 1 cup
Salt
PREPARATION
* Take a small green raw Papaya. Peel the skin and cut into a medium cube size.
* Rinse and wash the papaya well 3 times.
* Take a pressure cooker, add enough water and salt. Then add this washed papaya into this pressure cooker. Mix well. Then close the pressure cooker and wait for 2 whistle.
* Take a mixer grinder, add coconut, garlic cloves,green chillies and water. Then grind the coconut mixture to a fine paste. After that you can transfer this coconut mix into a bowl.
* In that same mixer grinder, add cooked papaya and grind well. Don't make the papaya to a fine paste, only just grind it like a mashed potatoes. (You can also mashed the cooked papaya by using spatula instead of grinding in a mixer grinder).
* Transfer the grinded/mashed papaya into the grinded coconut mix. Then mix well.
* Take a pan, heat enough Coconut Oil, then splutter Mustard seeds and curry leaves. Then add the coconut papaya mix to this seasoned pan. Mix well. ( No need to boil)
* Take a mixing bowl, add yogurt and enough salt. Then beat the yogurt by using hand whisk for atleast 3 to 5 minutes. Then add the seasoned Coconut papaya mix into this yogurt mix. Then by using hand whisk mix well all ingredients together.
* Transfer the coconut yogurt papaya dip to a serving bowl.
You can serve this tasty and delicious green papaya yogurt dip along with all types of rice. You can add this recipe for Onam Sadya menu too. Also you can make this as a quick side dish for your guest.
