DAL CURRY IS VERY MILD AND NUTRITIOUS CURRY MADE UP MAINLY OF LENTILS,TOMATO & SPICES. SOMETIMES POTATOES, YAM, DRUMSTICKS,RAW BANANA etc ARE ALSO USED . NO OTHER SPICES ARE USED EXCEPT TURMERIC POWDER & CHILLY POWDER.
THERE ARE MANY VERSIONS OF DAL CURRY. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST FAMILIAR ONE.
HERE THE RECIPE IS SO SIMPLE & THIS IS A ONE-POT RECIPE WHICH IS VERY USEFUL FOR BEGINNERS. DAL,ONION,TOMATO & RAW BANANA GIVES A SPECIAL FAVOUR TO THIS CURRY. LETS FOLLOW THE STEPS TO MAKE THIS TASTY DAL CURRY.
DAL CURRY IS A BASIC INDIAN GRAVY DISH MADE BY LENTILS AND SPICES. THERE ARE NUMEROUS WAYS OF COOKING DAL CURRY. AMONG DAL CURRY IS A BASIC INDIAN GRAVY DISH THAT CAN BE MADE WITH MASOOR DAL, TOOR DAL, MOONG DAL, CHANA DAL OR EVEN WITH MIXED DAL.
HERE I USED MASOOR DAL FOR MAKING INSTANT DAL CURRY. THIS CURRY IS MADE BY MIXING UP OF PLANTAIN AND OTHER SPICES WITH MASOOR DAL. THIS RECIPE IS VERY SIMPLE AND CAN MAKE THE BIGGINERS ALSO. BECAUSE HERE I USED ONLY ONE POT TO MAKE THIS CURRY. SO IT'S EASY FOR THOSE WHO WORK OUTSIDE AND CAN MAKE THE TIFFIN WITH IN A MINUTES.
LET'S FOLLOW MY EASY RECIPE TO MAKE DAL CURRY IN ONE POT.
INGREDIENTS
MASOOR DAL - 100 grm
ONION -1 SMALL
TOMATO - 1 SMALL
RAW BANANA -1
GREEN CHILLY - 3
GINGER CHOPPED - 1 tbsp
GARLIC CHOPPED - 1 tbsp
TURMERIC POWDER - 1/2 tsp
RED CHILLY POWDER - 3/4 tbsp
MUSTARD SEEDS - 1/2 tsp
CURRY LEAVES
DRIED RED CHILLY - 3
SALT
WATER
COCONUT OIL - 4 tbsp

PREPARATION
∆ TAKE A PRESSURE COOKER , HEAT 4 tbsp OF COCONUT OIL .
∆ SPLUTTER MUSTARD SEEDS . ADD DRIED RED CHILLY AND CURRY LEAVES.
∆ ADD CHOPPED GINGER, GARLIC AND GREEN CHILLY. SAUTE IT FOR 2 MINUTES.( DON'T BURN GINGER & GARLIC ).
∆ ADD CHOPPED ONION AND SAUTE UNTIL IT TURNS LIGHT GOLDEN COLOUR.
∆ ADD CHOPPED TOMATO & ENOUGH SALT. MIX WELL UNTIL THE WATER FROM TOMATO COMES.
∆ REDUCE THE FLAME (LOW), THEN APPLY TURMERIC POWDER AND RED CHILLY POWDER. MIX WELL .
∆ ADD CHOPPED PLANTAIN (RAW BANANA) & MIX WELL FOR 2 MINUTES IN A MEDIUM FLAME. ADD 1 CUP WATER, CLOSE THE PRESSURE COOKER. WAIT FOR 2 WHISTLE .
• INSTEAD OF RAW BANANA, YOU CAN PREFER DRUMSTICKS, POTATOES, YAM etc.
∆ AFTER 5 MINUTES, OPEN THE PRESSURE COOKER. IF THE WATER IS REDUCED & THE CURRY BECOME THICK GRAVY, YOU CAN ADD LITTLE WATER. IF THERE IS EXCESS OF WATER , YOU CAN BOIL IT FOR 5 MINUTES UNTIL IT TURNS TO A GRAVY TEXTURE.
INSTANT & HEALTHY DAL CURRY IS READY. YOU CAN SERVE IT WITH RICE, CHAPATI etc.
