MICRO GREENS ARE YOUNG VEGETABLE GREEN LEAVES THAT ARE APPROXIMATELY 1- 3 inches TALL. THEY HAVE AN AROMATIC FLAVOUR AND THEY HAVE CONSIDERED AS A BABY PLANT. THEY CAN BE GROWN IN VARIOUS LOCATION INCLUDING INDOOR, OUTDOOR OR IN WINDOW SIDE. YOU CAN MAKE MICROGREENS FROM OTHER SEEDS LIKE CHICKPEAS , RED CHOWRI MUSTARD SEEDS , FENUGREEK SEEDS etc
THORAN IS VERY TASTY AND POPULAR DRY SIDE DISH OF KERALA CUISINE. IT IS MADE FROM MIXING UP OF COCONUT AND OTHER SEASONED SPICES.
HERE I MAKE MICROGREENS PLANTS INSIDE OF MY HOUSE. THEN TAKE CARE FOR 14 DAYS BY POURING WATER TWICE IN A DAY. AFTER THAT I CULTIVATED THEM AND MAKE A TASTY THORAN FROM THIS.
THORAN IS A DRY VEGETABLE DISHES THAT ARE COMBINED WITH COCONUT, COMMONLY FOUND IN KERALA.
LET'S TRY THIS METHOD TO MAKE TASTY AND HEALTHY THORAN FROM MICROGREENS.
MOONG DAL WHOLE - I CUP
PLASTIC CONTAINER - 1 LARGE
WATER
TISSUE PAPER
INGREDIENTS TO MAKE THORAN
MICROGREENS
TURMERIC POWDER - PINCH
SALT
GREEN CHILLY - 3
CURRY LEAVES
MUSTARD SEEDS - 1tsp
GARLIC CLOVES - 3
CRUSHED COCONUT - 4 tbsp
COCONUT OIL - 2- 3 tbsp

HOW TO GROW MICROGREENS AT HOME
step 1
SOAK THE WHOLE MOONG DAL IN WATER FOR OVERNIGHT.
Step 2
TAKE A LARGE PLASTIC CONTAINER , FOLD A COUPLE OF TISSUE PAPER TO FIT THE BOTTOM OF THE CONTAINER.
Step 3
POUR LITTLE WATER AND AGAIN FOLD A COUPLE OF TISSUE PAPER TO FIT THE CONTAINER.
Step 4
SCATTER MOONG DAL SEEDS ON THE TOP OF TISSUE PAPER.
Step 5
BY USING SPRAY BOTTLE , SPRAY SEEDS WITH WATER TO WET THEM FURTHER. THIS WILL HELP FOR SPEED UP THE GERMINATION PROCESS.
Step 6
COVER THE CONTAINER WITH TISSUE PAPERS, THEN CLOSE THE LID OF THE CONTAINER.
Step 7
SEEDS WILL GERMINATED AFTER 2 OR 3 DAYS. SPRAY WATER TO THAT TISSUE PAPER TWICE A DAY. NO NEED TO KEEP IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. ONCE THE SEED SPITS AND BEGAN TO SPROUT, REMOVE THE TISSUE PAPER IN THE TOP PART OF THE CONTAINER.( DONT REMOVE THE TISSUE PAPER IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CONTAINER)

SPRAY WATER TO THE GERMINATING SEEDS TWICE A DAY . ( REMEMBER - POURING TOO MUCH WATER WILL CAUSE THE PLANT TO ROT.) NO NEED TO COVER THE CONTAINER ONCE THE SEED BEGAN TO GROW. KEEP IN BRIGHT AREA.

THE MICROGREENS ARE READY TO HARVEST AFTER 10 - 14 DAYS.
THE MICROGREENS ARE READY TO HARVEST . YOU CAN CUT IT FROM THE STEM .
HOW TO MAKE THORAN FROM MICROGREENS ?
👉 Wash and drain the microgreens from water . Keep it in a strainer for 5 minutes. Finely chop the microgreens and keep aside.
👉 Heat a pan and add coconut oil . Splutter Mustard seeds, then add curry leaves, crushed garlic cloves . Saute for 2 minutes ( don't burn the garlic ).
👉 Add finely chopped microgreens and mix well. Add pinch of Turmeric powder and enough salt. Close the pan with lid .Cook it for 5 minutes in a low flame.
👉 Once you open the lid you can see water coming from microgreens . Cook it in a medium flame until the water absorbs from the pan.
👉 Then add crushed coconut and mix well in a medium flame. Saut for 2- 3 minutes until it turn to dry.
THE TASTY AND HEALTHY MICROGREENS THORAN READY TO SERVE.
THIS THORAN CAN BE SERVED WITH RICE AND CURRY.
